Fans of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have reason to celebrate as the two actors were spotted filming their upcoming comedy series, Brother from Another Mother, in Austin, Texas. The duo was seen on South Congress Avenue, outside the Billy Reid clothing store, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
Real-Life Friends, On-Screen Fun
McConaughey and Harrelson, both Texas natives, have a long history of working together. Their on-screen chemistry was first showcased in the 1999 film EdTv and later in the critically acclaimed first season of True Detective. Now, the pair is teaming up again for a comedy series inspired by their real-life friendship.
The show, which will air on Apple TV+, is a fictionalized portrayal of their bond. The plot follows Harrelson and his family as they move in with McConaughey at his Texas ranch, leading to a comedic clash of personalities and lifestyles.
A Unique Family Connection?
McConaughey hinted at the project last year during an interview on the podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa. He revealed a surprising twist to his and Harrelson’s friendship: a possible familial connection.
During a trip to Greece, McConaughey’s mother mentioned that she “knew” Harrelson’s father, Charles Harrelson. This led the two actors to question the nature of their connection, discovering a time in West Texas when their families’ paths might have crossed.
Charles Harrelson, a notorious Texas outlaw, was convicted of murdering a federal judge in San Antonio, adding an intriguing backstory to the actors’ already close relationship.
Coming Soon to Apple TV+
While a release date for Brother from Another Mother has yet to be announced, the series promises plenty of laughs as McConaughey and Harrelson bring their undeniable chemistry to this comedic tale of friendship and family. Fans are eagerly awaiting updates as filming continues in the Lone Star State.
