Brad Pitt Films F1 Movie at Las Vegas Grand Prix

Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt returned to the Las Vegas Grand Prix, but not as a spectator. Instead, the actor was in town to film scenes for his upcoming F1 movie, where he plays a veteran race car driver named Sonny Hayes.

The 60-year-old actor was spotted shooting a scene on a hotel balcony alongside co-star Kerry Condon, who portrays a character named Kate. The highly anticipated movie also features a star-studded cast, including Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

Joseph Kosinski directed and Jerry Bruckheimer produced the film, which is slated for release in June 2025. The duo, known for their work on Top Gun: Maverick, is teaming up again for this action-packed story. Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton is also a consultant on the film, adding authenticity to the racing sequences.

Filming began in July 2023 at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, where Pitt hit the track for the first time in character. Since then, production has traveled to several international F1 events, including the Mexico City Grand Prix and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

At the Mexico City race, Pitt filmed a dramatic scene on the Hermanos Rodríguez racetrack, dressed in the racing suit of the fictional APX GP team. The movie’s team is using groundbreaking camera technology, developed by Oscar-winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda, to capture high-speed action on real F1 tracks.

The movie tells the story of Sonny Hayes, a retired race car driver who left the sport after a crash. He is brought back into the world of racing when a team owner, played by Javier Bardem, asks him to mentor rookie driver Joshua Pearce, portrayed by Damson Idris.

Pitt, a known Formula One fan, shared his excitement for the project while filming at Silverstone. “This is the best time of my life,” Pitt told reporters. “Everyone has been so supportive, and I think this movie is going to be something really special.”

The film, backed by Apple Studios, is set to hit theaters in June 2025. A teaser trailer was released earlier this year during the British Grand Prix, building excitement for the unique blend of action, drama, and real F1 racing.

With its thrilling storyline, high-profile cast, and breathtaking visuals, this Formula One movie promises to bring the excitement of the sport to audiences around the globe.
